れんぎょう忌

４月２日は連翹（れんぎょう）忌です。

 

 

詩人であり、彫刻家でもある高村光太郎の命日。

 

 

木彫界の重鎮であった高村光雲の長男で、

『道程』『智恵子抄』の詩集や、

十和田湖の『裸婦像』などを手掛けてましたね。

 

享年73歳。
彼の亡くなった日、

雪のあがった庭には

連翹の花がたわわに咲いていたことと、

 

本人も生前、レンギョウの花を好んだことから、

「連翹忌」と呼ぶようになったとのこと。

 

今回は、静かに文学に触れてみました。
